WANTED: ONLINE-AUCTION VOLUNTEERS

Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre is looking for a few (2-5) volunteers with excellent communication skills to help with our 5th annual online auction. Over the past three years, our Caring for Our Wildlife online auction, has become the centre’s main fundraiser. To date, it has raised nearly $45,000 to support animal care at the centre. Each year, it grows, and with its growth we need more volunteer support. Many donors and bidders have told us that they look forward to supporting the auction each year. It’s easy, fun, and it’s for a great cause!

Depending on the number of committee members, anticipate 3-5 hours per week in March and 5-7 hours per week in April. The auction is scheduled for April 20th to 27th, 2024, and virtual committee meetings will take place once per month beginning in mid-March. Auction items are picked up, shipped out, or delivered to the successful bidders by the end of April or early May. A report is provided to the board of directors by the committee chairperson in May.

Should any committee members wish to continue volunteering beyond the scope of the auction, Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre also requires regular volunteer support with communications and fundraising (website, social media). It’s a great way to gain skills and experience, meet new people and help to give the wild ones a second chance at a wild life.

Please e-mail Turtle Pond if interested and tell us about yourself. A formal resume is not required, but if you have one prepared, it would be welcome, so that we have a better understanding of your skills. If you are interested, but have less time available to volunteer, we welcome that too. Just let us know how much time you have for volunteering and if there is a specific week or month, that works for your schedule (between March and April), that information is helpful too.
